2019
Engineering roots and cyber research foundations
National Undergraduate of the Year featureOur founder, Luke Collinson, studied Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at university and was named National Undergraduate of the Year (2019).
Luke’s degree project explored ‘A novel proof of authority blockchain mechanism for elevated system communications within a zero-trust architecture cyber security model’.
Alongside this work, he was inducted into the NCSC CyberFirst programme.

2020-2024
Rapid progression in security leadership
After university, Luke moved into industry and started as a SecOps Analyst.
Within three years, he progressed to Head of Cyber Security, working across organisations including Rolls‑Royce, AstraZeneca, and Aldermore Bank.
In 2024, Luke was awarded the CSO30 and Business Acumen award by Foundry (sponsored by Microsoft), recognising him among the UK’s top 30 cyber security professionals that year.
He successfully navigated Salford City Council through three separate cyber security incidents within a six-hour window and established beneficial commercial relationships for Salford with ImmersiveLabs and Roboshadow.

2025
Validation from industry and engineering communities
In 2025, Luke began developing his degree project to fruition.
He initially began by submitting whitepapers, which were subsequently recognised as a Top 10 UK Cyber Innovation (2025) by techUK.
Building on this, he was made an Enterprise Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering due to the novelty of the design and commercial potential.
Cyber Security Stack was also included in the Plexal Cyber Runway: Grow programme, funded by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT).

2026
Building full time
In 2026, Luke began working on the business full time.
Luke is now a featured speaker, invited to speak at conferences and setting the tone for innovation on a national stage.
Cyber Security Stack has been selected by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) to represent the best of UK cyber innovation on a global stage at RSA Conference (March 2026).
